COIMBATORE: Gati Ltd, a leading retail express cargo movers, on Saturday opened its Express Distribution Centre (EDC) in the city.

EDC is a combination of an express centre for seamless booking and pick-ups, transit centre for seamless sorting, pick packing and on time despatches and a warehouse, with modern material handling equipment, Yogesh Khamar, Head, Business and operations ( South) of the company, told reporters here.

As the logistics market was growing, the company has plans to set up much bigger EDCs in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune and Kochi soon, he said.

With express distribution segment witnessing tremendous growth, the company was targeting to grow at least by 50 per cent in class B and C towns in a couple of years.

The top of the line EDC facility in the city would enable businessmen from the deepest parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala to reach out to the rest of India on time and hassle free, Mr Yogesh claimed. - PTI
